I’m Ashley, a Catholic, a wife, a homeschooling mother, and a lover of wisdom. I grew up here and there eventually settling in Mississippi to finish out my bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts. I graduated with a concentration in anthropology and classical studies. I loved academia, and I would have loved to pursue a position in the ranks. However, God had a much different plan. I left a master’s degree and a PHD offer to become a wife and mother.

My blog is a place to explore and integrate all of the Beauty, Truth, and Goodness into our souls through classical education and a liturgy of virtue formation. It has taken me years to really live a rule of life; it always seemed daunting to live in a domestic monastery. Over time that daunting-ness turned into a passion. Classical education seemed to slide perfectly into that domestic monastery. After all, it was the monasteries that preserved knowledge during the darkest times.

Homeschooling was a decision Jeff and I made before the kids were born which left me some time to research and understand what curricula I wanted. I knew that I wanted my children to have a classical education because of my love of Latin and the philosophers from college. So, that is what we do. We embrace classical education and attempt to embody the True, the Good, and the Beautiful in our everyday.

I believe that classical education is not just for our children. We are the parents and the primary educators of our children. As such, we have to be willing to heal our own organs of truth perception. Some of the ways that I think we can do that are to read, learn, seek out knowledge, commonplace, discuss, and build habits through liturgy.

Classical education has made me more aware of the humanity that I shucked off for so many years. I can’t promise that I have many answers or that this little space of the internet will always be filled with amazing or practical ideas. What I can promise is that I want the conversation to continue. I want to grow with my kids, my husband, and you, dear reader.

Murder mysteries, commonplacingMyers Briggs (I’m an INTJ), red lipstick, cheetah print, Catholicism, shrine visits, food, baking, cooking, reading, classical homeschooling, writing, and listening to podcasts are just a few favorite interests that keep my mind occupied.
