The Online Scriptorium is scheduled later than normal this month. We have family visiting and school to finish up. So, if you could pardon the date moving to the last week of November, I would be incredibly grateful.
This month I have a playful short story, “Bernice Bobs Her Hair”. Written by F. Scott Fitzgerald in 1920, the story focuses on two cousins and a social experiment. The story carries the common theme of “carpe diem” that Fitzgerald often explored which grew out from the horrors and large death tolls of World War I. What I adore about this story is really the concept of what makes us beautiful and attractive. Are we more than our physical shells? Another fabulous little tidbit is that Fitzgerald based the main character off of a mythical woman with a similar sacrifice.
The Online Scriptorium meets on Nov. 30 this month at 6 pm PST. You can register here: https://www.crowdcast.io/e/thelinensonlinescriptorium/register. This will be the last Online Scriptorium of the season until February. I hope to see you there!
